Media Magic With Stacy Ike!

Stacy Ike, better known as @onetakestace moved to Los Angeles and quickly became one of the most popular, spontaneous, and enjoyable media personalities in show business. This media maven works for Black Hollywood Live, Baller Alert, Hollywood Reporter, After Buzz, and more! While also maintaining her own website, YouTube Channel, and launching her own career as an actress; Stacy is the definition of MEDIA MAGIC!

1. When did you decide that you wanted to take such an extreme leap of faith and move to LA to explore the life of Hollywood?

I had just moved back from Australia after graduating and I always knew LA was in the future but I didn’t know when. In the meantime, I was working at a retail store and after a few months my boss wanted to promote me. In that moment I knew I had to quit. I was getting comfortable and I knew I was stalling from taking the leap. A couple days later I put in my notice and moved to LA a month later. It was the perfect push to go where I felt God was calling me to go.

2. Was being in television and as Talk Show Host/ Red Carpet Correspondent always a dream of yours?

Definitely! I started to fall in love with TV when I was 15 and haven’t let it go since. I went to journalism school thinking I would start out in news journalism but I ended up starting my career in entertainment. As long as I was able to tell positive and uplifting stories, I felt right at home.

3. You've only been in LA for a short period of time and it seems that your career has quickly catapulted. You are doing incredible things, and have had the chance to meet all the hottest celebs. How does this make you feel, do you sometimes have to pinch yourself?

Aww thank you so much for your kind words! Sometimes, when you are in the hustle you forget to stop and look at where you started. I am very big on journaling and documenting the good moments and the bad ones because they all make up the story. I live in complete gratitude and do my best to stay inspired. With that, every experience feels even more surreal than the last.

4. Where do you see yourself and your career within the next few years?

To be honest, my career goals have changed so much over the past few years because I have been exposed to things I did not know were possible before. Right now, I’m so open to what God has for me and I’m excited to keep trying new things and developing in my craft as a host and as an actress.

5. Do you find it sometimes hard to being away from your home town, childhood friends, and family? If so how do you handle it?

It can definitely be difficult to be far from home. You're the last one to find out about family affairs or you have to miss major events because of work. But when you make the decision to follow your dreams, it automatically comes with some sacrifices. To handle it, I do not lose touch. I talk to my family at least once every other day, as well as my friends. And when I can, I fly home for a week or weekend. It’s all about communication and staying as connected as possible.

6. What is the one thing that keeps you motivated and gets you out of bed each morning?

JESUS, for one! His love and strength keep me going. My family, who constantly support my pursuit of this career. And my responsibility to my craft and my gift. I don’t want to let myself down, so I have to push past the fear and every day whispers of doubt…I have to keep going.

7. What is your favorite part about being on the red carpet. And what was one of your most memorable red carpet moments ?

I love the hustle of a red carpet. At times, it can be a bit overwhelming because you truly have to think of several things at one time but when you get your question in or you make your favorite celebrity laugh, it feels so worth it. One of my most memorable carpets was this years Screen Actors Guild Awards. I wore braids on the red carpet for the first time and it gave me a level of confidence I have never had! It felt amazing. Some of my favorite interviews have been Tom Ford, Jamie Foxx and the incredible Oprah!

8. How do you know what to wear on the red carpet, and how do you know what questions to ask?

I dress for the job I want, not just for the job I have. I always want to show my personal style, my professionalism as well as a little flare with every outfit I choose. When it comes to interviewing honestly, it takes practice. I still beat myself up after a carpet about a question I should have asked or wish I asked but I just use that moment to get better for the next time.

9. What advice would you give to women aspiring to follow your foot steps?

Wow. I would first say believe in yourself more than anyone else does. It sounds cliche but it really is the key. You can’t let any outside forces hinder you from chasing what you really want. For me, I live by faith so I would always advice to stay in prayer and stay connected to Gods love and wisdom. And lastly, DO NOT BE AFRAID TO FAIL! It can be very scary to take a leap in to a new career or any new venture BUT if we don’t try, we will never know!
