Marita Garrett Campaigns to Become Wilkinsburg's Next Mayor.

May 15, 2017

The time has finally come.

Election Day will be taking place Tuesday May 16, 2016. Polls will be open from 7:00am until 8:00pm at select locations.

Mayor Elect, Marita Garrett has done much campaigning over the past few months. You may have seen her on the cover of the Soul Pitt Magazine Winter 2017 Edition, or when she was identified as a political leader in "Who's Next in Politics," maybe when she served as a panelist during the Keystone Crossroads Conference, a meet and greet, or while working heavily within the Wilkinsburg community. Ms. Garrett has exuded much passion for her neighborhood and people during this campaign.

Wilkinsburg Council Vice President, has played a key role in the development of Wilkinsburg for some time now. She launched "Community Conversations" and co-founded the "Free Store Wilkinsburg."

Ms. Garrett was born and raised in Akron, Ohio but is all too passionate about the neighborhood of Wilkinsburg. She has resided and served in Wilkinsburg for over 7 years.

Councilwoman Ms. Garrett said, "As a woman of color, I have always been concerned with issues facing women, minorities, and underrepresented populations. There are workable solutions and actions, that can warrant these voices are being heard and represented at the table. I would like to thank those for their encouragement and support during this campaign."

If elected Mayor, Ms. Garrett has numerous plans, projects, and initiatives she is looking to launch to make the neighborhood what she believes it is and can be.

If you live in Wilkinsburg now is the time to action, be informed, and cast your vote!
