The Talk Civil Conference with Karen Civil.

By: Paige K. Mitchell The ‘Talk Civil Conference’ with special guest and keynote speaker, Karen Civil took place on Sunday April 8, 2018 in Tampa, Florida. Karen Civil, Social Media strategists & digital-marketing expert took the time to speak to a group of thriving entrepreneurs. “I do not let titles define me anymore. I am a CEO. I am a creator. I am always Civil,” Karen Civil Said. Karen Civil works closely with all sorts of celebrities such as; Teyana Taylor, Lil’ Wayne, Nipsey Hussle, and notable brands like Louis Vuitton and Beats By Dre. Karen dropped gems and encouraged the women by talking about her struggles in grade school and how she was rejected from an opportunity to work with Angie Martinez. “Connections will get you through doors, that your resume will not,” Karen said. Karen Civil’s key talking points were balancing career + lifestyle, diversity, social media, and striving as a Black woman in business. Karen said, “Don’t compare your real life to someone’s controlled online content. Be conscious of the content you consume.” The conference attendees also had the opportunity to hear from a men and women panel. The male panel consisted of; Andre Jennings, Brandon Glenn, Nola L. and Dwayne Terry. While the female counterparts were Tre’esa Battles, Sierra Rainge, Estella Gray, Andromeda Raheem, and Ivy Box. The panels had the opportunity to tackle topics such as love, life, relationships, family, and entrepreneurship ups & downs. The panel ranged in careers from radio personalities, authors, corporate public relations representatives, public speakers, and etc. The event was organized by special events organizer, Aisha Ayana. Aisha spoke about being a mother and starting as a party promoter. Currently she now holds successful events geared toward the uplifting of men and women throughout the year. “He never said weapons wouldn’t form... He promised that they wouldn’t prosper. This event was about me reclaiming my time,” Aisha said. At the end of the conference Karen Civil took out the time to mix and mingle with the ladies in the intimate space for photos and conversation. Karen also shared a heartfelt moment with the ladies as her eyes filled with tears about the recent passing of a close family member, but she continued to press on throughout the conference.
