Pushing The Culture Forward At Culture Con!

By: Paige K. Mitchell As Culture Con so perfectly puts it... Nothing moves without us. ‘US’ being the operative word. I am extremely proud to be a part of this generation, and that I had the opportunity to witness this conference. Here’s to more ownership, collaboration, and taking over! We are the culture! Saturday October 13, 2018- hundreds of creatives joined forces to collaborate in celebration of being ‘Us’ - Black & Proud! The Creative Collective NYC organized another conference that attendees are sure to never forget. Doors promptly opened at 8:00AM and the conference went on until 6:30PM; which was immediately followed by Happy Hour. “I loved Culture Con! I loved watching my friends be great. I loved speaking and meeting new faces! Imani, you did that,” Scottie Beam said of Revolt TV. The conference was divided into a day of interviews, panel discussions, and workshops. While, there was time for fun and photos in between at the wide selection of photo booths provided by BET, Footlocker, Dove, and more! Celebrity entertainment journalist, Gia Pepper last Co-hosted the conference alongside Sports Journalist, Taylor Rooks- and also interviewed Tyler Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell is most known for his iconic photo shoot with Beyoncé for VOGUE Magazine. And guess what...? He is only 23! Gia Peppers said, “He told me that one of his main goals is to create more imagery of Black people at peace... because we don’t see enough of that. Man What?! SHINE ON!” All sorts of celebrities, socialites, activists, and influencers made sure they came to support Culture Con- John Legend, Nick Cannon, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God, Deray McKesson, Eboni K. Williams, Remy Ma, Papoose, Ty Alexander, Tracy G, and so many more! While many celebrities took dope photos in front of a replica of David Hammons African American flag. The real flag is in the modern art museum in NYC. Mark Clennon captures some dope shots.

We are also unstoppable, unshakable, and unimaginably dope! Taylor Rooks said, “I was honored to host such an inspiring event. A room full of creatives, committed to pushing the culture. May the rest of the year bring you all constant progression.” “Culture Con was awesome! Over the weekend I was in the presence of so many real Kings and Queens pushing the culture forward,” Nick Cannon said. Some of the food and beverage sponsors were; Avion Tequila, KRAVE, Bark Thins, Pressed Juicery, Skinny POP Popcorn, The Meatball Shop, and more. “This was a beautiful experience. You know Black folks make the culture, and being around so many folks dedicated to understanding our collective power was something I’ll always keep with me,” Deray McKesson said. Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. Nothing moves without us. Thank you the Creative Collective NYC!
