The Sneaker Ball was a success and will be back next year,” Co-Founder Of 1Nation Mentoring; Kevin McNair said. 1Nation Mentoring organization is based in Pittsburgh where three Black Kings Kevin McNair, Lloyd Cheatom, and Sam Morant; came together to empower inner city youth. The mission of this organization is to serve African American youth ages 12-24 by cultivating their leadership potential, empowering positive behavior, and promoting healthy life decisions. Co-Founder Lloyd Cheatom Said, “We Mentor Youth Because we want to change the negative narrative attached to Black youth. We need to think great, and act great, in order to be great.” 1Nation had an idea to host a Sneaker Ball, and it went down at the August Wilson Center Saturday July 21, 2018 in order to highlight, promote, and fundraise in support of all the great things the organization is doing. “The Sneaker Ball was a huge success! Thank you to everyone that supported our vision,” Co-Founder Sam Morant said. 200+ people attended dressed to impress while rocking a fly Sneaker. Fellas were required to wear a suit or tuxedo, while women wore dresses and gowns. While Brian Burley of ‘Young Black Pittsburgh’ and Marlisa Goldsmith Of WPXI hosted the affair. Nationally known political activist, Leon Ford was awarded by 1Nation for the tremendous amount of love and support that he pours into the organization. And DJ GQ kept the party going on the 1’s and 2’s. The night concluded with a night full of partying. If you missed this event, stay tuned until next year... Photo Credit:: Xavier Thomas @ArtLikeUs
