The Source Magazine Conference Review and Rewind!

By: Paige K. Mitchell September 6-9 The Source Magazine held their annual Source 360 Festival-Conference-Concerts Event! This event highlights the most positive and inspiring aspects of Hip-Hop culture. Supporters of the magazine and people of Brooklyn, New York get to enjoy a weekend filled with speaker series, music showcases, rap battles, community forums, fashion shows, topped off with a poppin’ Block Party! The Source Magazine is the #1 brand for Hip-Hop culture. The Source first hit magazine shelves in 1988, and continues to strive. Covering Hip Hop, politics, and culture! The magazine has made its mark in the Hip-Hop community. The annual event kicked off with panel discussions. Him Jones was the keynote speaker during the discussion about cannabis. This took place at the Borough Brooklyn Hall. While rapper, Freeway led a discussion about the mind, body, and spirit. Which is why this annual event was supported and successful. Her Source Glam Panel featured; Jessica White, Dream Doll, Misa Hylton, Tasha Turner, Marc Baptiste, and Africa Miranda- where they spoke about fashion, beauty, and style. All panelist leaving the audience with gems. Africa Miranda said, “Step Up, Step Out, and Shine! Harness your light, recognize your power, and transform your life!” Attendees and guests had the opportunity to ask questions and mix and mingle with celebrity panelists. The Conference continued into the Unsigned Hype Portion where participants had the opportunity to shoot their shot in front of CEO of Digiwaxx, DJ Enuff, and Craiga King. Musicians, rappers, and poets had the chance to hit the stage in front of celebrities that could change their lives. “This moment was priceless. Thank you,” Nahsym Yogi Kalif, Finalists of Unsigned Hype said. Source reporter, Dantee’ Ramos said, “I had so much fun all weekend. One of my favorite parts was having fun with the dancers at the Block Party.” The Block Party was a true party! All sorts of entertainers hit the stage. While countless celebrities, entertainers, and producers stopped by to show the Source Magazine some love. Even celebrities that were unable to attend made sure they spread the news, encouraging those to attend- for example; Angela Yee, Nick Cannon, and Nyla Symonee. Excited to see what the Source Magazine does next year.
